Yea. That washer with the dot is what I mean
I just reused my timing belt that was put on just before I bought the car. So I was unaware of the particulars in installing rhe belt lingning up the belt marks and all so I was using rhe dot initially, until j found it this morning, to set the time. Pointjng that dot to the mark on the oil pump instead of rhe one closer to the engine in the washer type deal. Anyway. I'll be home to finish it up shortly and with update then
Thanks for wvweuones input.
You know this is just another example of what technology has done for us. I'm amazed all rhr time at what we cam do now compared to the 70 and 80's. If I had to do this even in the early ninties. (Actually internet service wasn't offered anywhere in my Rea until 97' that was the 1st I heard much about it ans that it was offwred to us) i would have had ro call somekne on a landline phone and had them either come by snd see my trouble kr towed it into the shop. Its rruly amazing.
I've done all these communications on my mobile
The 1st cell phone I ever bought was a Motorola brick huge phone that cost so much I had to buy it at tac time with my refund. But I'll never forget....the salesman at Bluwgrass Cellular said "man you wont belive this. But one day soon you will be able to own a mobile phone that is a telephone, email, internet, camera, cam Corder and you'll even be able to watch TV or movies on it and to top all that it'll be the size of your hand." I will never forget how ignorant that sounded to me. How completly impossible le that would be for anyone to create. But here we are
Well sll back together and still the dlaame dang thing
acts like it flooded real bad. Idk whst to do. I have never jn my.life come across a car I could not fix and get running. Never. But this damn thing. I'm fixing ro throw in the towel
How did it run before you changed the crankshaft seal?
You wrote " almost starts or a lot of times it starts barely tries to run." Is it really running a bit? Just want to rule out the immobilizer. Is the security light off in the car?
Are the plugs fouled from all the flooding? Maybe take them out, clean them, verify you have spark, at least on the easy ones.
After that time to check the compression.
Before I put a wrench on it, it ran great. Not a thing ever either it. No codes or anything prior to the seal. I was sure to check for any codes kn the 1st trip just in case because there was no trouble light on. I have verified spark several times. It Ean foe e5 seconds today but was flooded and never did get straightened out.i have discovered that I guess rhe previous owner changed the coils and plugs and none of the plugs are iridium and the coils are all aftermarket no name. So I ordered all original equipment plugs and coils a bit ago.i am afraid tho that if this doesn't get it running I probably won't do anything else to it but haul it off. Idk yet I guess I'll decide rhen.
I can't find anything I'm missing or overlooking. Ive diyble and triple checked everything. Ive got great psi at the fuel rail. And ive gor lue sparks kn every cylinder and it turns iver normal. Not like you'd hear if it were out of time.
I live in Westmoreland tennessee, which is just under Scottsville kentucky. If you could trailer that thing over here to my place, I would take a look at it for you.
Did you disconnect the ground points when working on the dampener? If so, recheck those
These are for 2002 es
Did you disconnect anything from alternator? Check the two connections - the post connection AND the plug in connector
The timing belt tensioner - did you remove this when working on belt? It needs to be reset before reinstalling. As seen in the picture there is a temp locking-pin. I have used an Allen to do this. The plunger has to be forced back into the cylinder so temp locking pin will line up in hole to lock in place. Once belt is properly installed & aligned, install tensioner then pull the locking pin.
Compression check done a couple days ago and was great. Ground wires are Ll attached I rwn into thet before on a nissan murano and learned my lesson. Yea...plunger foe belt was reset out back in and.pin pulled to release it tk tighten the belt as book says. I'm hoping, that's all jve got left thst putting rhe iridium plugs and denso coils in it while do the trick. They'll be here kne day this week so sew soon enough
I am still stuck with lack of proper timing as the root cause.
Once way to confirm would be with a scope and current clamp probe. Set trigger with #1 coil pack ignite lead and scope battery current. They should line up.
This method also gives you relative compression [peaks of the current as each cylinder compression demands more battery current to crank.
Any luck with a coder reader? There may be bad connection/pinched wire.
