While using nav, what distance do you use?
i usually have it on 1/4 mile, since anything closer gets too detailed and the screen looks bombarded with too much info. just wondering what the rest the nav community uses.
Usually 1/8 mile in cities, sometimes 1/4 mile. On Interstates I move out to a mile or more - to get a better heads-up on upcoming features. That 1/32 works well in crowded, unfamiliar territory. I used it in the Warehouse District, French Quarter, and Garden District of the Big Easy last week. I got around like a native!
Sure wish we had the "traffic" feature here in the States like in Europe. It would be nice if our Navs could route us around traffic congestion using local updates from digital radio subcarriers (No, not the "{Traf" button). Once again, to protect our domestic manufacturers we adopt technology verrrry slooooowly...

It has nothing to do with protecting our domestic manufacturers. We simply do not have enough radio stations that provide digital traffic update. The NAV system on Ford and Lincoln is a joke anyway. Chrysler's is from Daimler. GM? Call OnStar.
