I do like money in the pocket, especially with a depreciating "asset" but as i told my wife, let me make a stupid decision here.

Congrats! So you ended up purchasing the 2020? Must be breaking it in now. How do you like it so far? (early to ask the question, but going to ask anyway).

kind of bizarre but havent driven it yet. dealer drove it to my house signed the paperwork and just did a lap around the neighborhood with the kids. looks super aggressive which im ambivalent about but im excited about the NA v8. plan on keeping it forever (can hear my wife's eyes rolling).

That is where I stand. I can never see myself getting bored of it and wanting to replace it. It just has so much depth to it.

gotta say way way flashier than the gsf i had briefly. its like driving a gundam robot or something. my previous car i complained about the shift logic but i guess i got used to it since this one shifts kinda early and feels a bit lazy, need to play around more to get used to it.

You had a GSF before? Regarding the transmission, it is designed to be like that in auto mode. That is why I keep it in manual and sport+ all the time I drive it. Use paddle shifters. It is very aggressive in those modes.

had a 2017 gsf i got from carmax last year with 14k miles. was in great condition, but my wife hated it, so returned it. regret returning it, and my wife relented knowing how much i wanted something with an NA v8.

Do you prefer to drive it in auto mode? If you want more aggressive then you should put it in sport+ mode. However, the most aggressive like I said above, is manual mode with sport+ where it locks up torque converter for a mechanical engagement feel during shifts. It slams them hard especially near redline.

i do like it in auto mode. the best ever was my macan's pdk, that thing knew exactly what i wanted to do. i guess i need to look more things up, i just dont want to turn off traction aids, not sure what all is involved in sport and sport +, time to crack open the manual

With every mode increment, it changes the steering quickness/stiffness/heaviness, throttle response gets sharper with each mode and the transmission will shift more aggressively/faster especially as the rpms climb, brakes get more sensitive. With your RCF model having AVS, the suspension gets to the stiffest in sport+ mode. Manual mode locks the torque converter where it will give mechanical shifts where your head snaps especially at higher rpms. Also, when you drive the car cold, it takes about 15 minutes for the transmission to fully warm up. Lexus put a lot of safety mechanisms/limp mode in place when it is cold to protect the transmission. Once it is warmed up (needle half way through), the redline gets to the full 7300 rpm and the transmission will bunce off the rev limiter etc.

Random question but does the track pad get a glossy sheen over time? I hate my old keyboards and trackpads that develop a sheen, dunno if this one has that issue after awhile.

Not sure exactly what that is, but I don't see any issues with my OEM rotors/pads. My RCF is now 4 years old (11k miles) and still on OEM pad/brakes. Not sure exactly what the glossy sheen is.

Should've clarified, meant the infotainment touchpad/trackpad. My old laptop touchpad got an unattractive sheen.
Didn't know if it's crazy to put a small screen protector square to prevent that.

My interior is practically brand new despite being a 4 year old car. No glossy layer on it, but then again it could be because I don't even use the infotainment/mouse pad much LOL

Nope. No sheen, 4 plus years of daily use and hot sunny California. People always complaining the RCF is overpriced but as it ages you see where all the money goes to. Even the plastic interior parts are of the highest grade quality. All interior components still looking impeccable.

Quality craftsmanship, engineering and materials.
