is it possible to set up different information on the gauges in the different modes?

Yeah, there are quite a few options. The owner's manual has quite a lot on it. For instance, you can register in the middle of the gauge what you want to have appear as you flip through the options. Also, you can change the skin of sport and sport+ mode. I switched my sport and sport+ mode around since I like the skin for sport mode more.
