I started a thread a short while back when I first considered an RCF https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rc-...ng-at-rcf.html

I arrived home today with my "new to me" 2019 RCF

Long story short - Not many used RCF's in existence for sale, but saw this one on Tuesday and acted quickly because of the price and car condition. I contracted with a local PPI firm on Wednesday, got a good report, made a flight reservation, obtained a cashier's check and flew from RVA to Ft Lauderdale on Thursday morning. Did my own inspection/test drive and processed the paper. Started my drive home which took all day Thursday, spent night on the road and got home today. Drive was nearly 1,000 miles which allowed me to get up close and personal in a real short order.

Everyone here knows about the RCF so no need for deets on how it handles, sounds, etc. My gas mileage was 25.5 in normal mode, didn't know enough about the dial selector to get eco mode, hahaha

Car is nearly new, originally purchased mid September 2019 and had 1,936 mile on it when I arrived. It now has 2,900. Previously owned by a car nut who apparently does this sort of thing often so the term "nut" definitely applies. The RCF is equipped as follows:

That blue looks great! you should join us we are having a lexus meet on Sunday in Maryland but some of us are meeting up in Springfield, VA and cruising to it. I'm in Manassas, VA. Join the VA lexus club page on facebook. We have meets in the DMV area.

Congrats man! I'm in Virginia Beach, I'll have to meet up with you sometime perhaps and check it out. I've thought about doing the fly out and road trip back thing several times when buying a car, but have always found an excuse not to do it. I end up getting them shipped, which is more expensive and less fun. It sounds like you had a great time, and I'm sure you're going to enjoy the car. Congratulations again.

Thanks but I just drove 1000 miles in a day and a half. I need to park my but for a while. Besides, I avoid NVA and MD like the plague. The traffic makes me crazy. I don't do facebook but I can prolly piggyback on wife's page

I'm in Arizona. At the end of June I bought my new 2018 LC in Lincoln, Nebraska. A friend and I flew out and drove it back. Took 20hrs and 30mins.

The Airfare was on me

That's the way to do it.

Many years ago I got the selling dealership of a two year old low mileage SLK55 AMG HARDTOP CONVERTIBLE to agree in writing that if I buy the car he will pay my one way airfare to him and I'll drive the car home. If I don't buy the car, then I'm on my own. They even picked me up at the Chicago airport. We both knew that it ain't likely anybody was gonna to buy a high powered rear wheel drive Mercedes AMG in the middle of the winter in January!! Except for the dude from SoCal!!! LOL

It was a blast driving home........

Now that you probably have enough seat time, how does it feel going from a Porsche 911 Carrera S to the RCF especially when it is in sport+/manual mode.

Thanks for asking.

First, I am a manual transmission guy and my last 6 cars have had 3 pedals. I view the 911 as the pinnacle of my car ownership adventure as I have owned many performance cars over the years (several M cars, an Audi, blown mustang cobra and a C6 Z06). My 911 was an awesome driver's car and felt at home at the track, on subdivision streets and the highway. It was 2017 C2S which was the departure from the NA flat six with the smaller displacement twin turbo motor. The combination of light weight, plenty of torque and un-paralleled handling made it much fun to drive.

So it is a pretty radical change to go to a 2 pedal heavy weight car for me. I don't have but an hour or so of spirited driving with the RCF which occurred yesterday afternoon and this morning. I had to be a bit careful due to low 40 degree temps as summer tires tend to morph into hockey pucks in the cold. I must admit that in sport+ and manual mode, I was pleasantly surprised. It really does scratch the itch for having a 3 pedal car, more than I expected. The shifts are crisp and fast, something I really didn't expect to get from a Lexus. All of my spirited driving has been straight line so far, but as I get more familiar with the RCF and temperatures rise to normal, I will try it on some twisties that I played around with on the 911. I don't have the expectation that it will rival the 911 in the curves, but I am ok with that. I have come to realize that unless you track a car, 95% of real world driving doesn't require high amounts of torque, hp and road carving ability.

I look forward to driving the RCF in a spirited fashion as conditions allow. Thus far, I am happy. And the big plus the Lexus brings is that my wife loves it. I owned the 911 for 3 years and she never once drove it. She has already driven the RCF after 1 day of ownership.

Thanks. Good to hear. If you get into twisties with the RCF, my only advice is to go with sport+ and manual mode with everything sharpened up (for you with AVS, especially). Downshift before turns generously and power out through turns in high rpm. High rpms also maximizes steering and transmission response. You will definitely have a lot of fun when it is kept in the "meat" of the powerband.
