Buying 2015 RCF - Please help w/ questions.
Sorry guys, didn't get email notification on replies. The car has a front end clear bra. It does not cover the entire hood. I don't think it has it on the mirrors. I have never been this confused when buying a car. My heart tells me RCF my wife and wallet tell me SQ5 XD
I test drove the audi sq5 yesterday and it's really nice and quite fast! I was impressed. So the big question is do I need 467hp of raw power and looks or convenience and 354hp (SQ5 is supposed to be very similar to macan s). Still have about 10 days to decide.
BTW, hand built engine sounds cool.

I really wouldn't worry about the fuel pump issue.
I also don't really understand comparing virtually any non-SUV car with an SUV, especially a performance coupe.
If you are leaning in that direction, then the RC-F is probably not for you.
If you want power and convenience, wait for the new LS. I am considering that myself, but going to wait to see if the LS-F is really going to materialize or not.
In my opinion, either you are a car guy or not, and car guys don't consider SUVs. No offense, it is certainly what my wife prefers, and it is nice to have one in the garage when it is too cold to take out the RC-F.

"Car guys don't consider SUVs" I'm not sure about that. I love cars but I don't track cars. I drive an SUV because that's what made sense two years ago. At this point I need something faster. I'm leaning towards the RC-F because I have liked that car for quite a while, on the other hand the SQ5 could also make sense. I'm aware it's a weird list of options...
Is there a standard definition of what a "car guy" is? I have loved fast cars for as long as I can remember.
Well, I bought a Prius as a commuter when my commute was over 50 miles each way in heavy traffic.
In that situation, I don't really think there is a choice in the matter, unless you are just logically challenged.
However, I would never choose a Prius whenever there is certainly a logical choice in the matter. I guess that is what I meant.
At any rate, loving fast cars and actually buying and owning one are two different things. People always say they love things that they have absolutely zero intent of putting any effort towards, especially when it involves work and mental effort.
Not saying that is you, of course. Just saying. RC-F is a great choice if that kind of car is really something you want.

Ok, lol. SQ5 != prius.
FYI motortrend has the SQ5 as a sub 5 second car (0-60). My test drive felt that way. Again not comparing to the beast that is the RC-F.
I did not buy the RC-F before because it didn't make financial sense at the time. I work hard for my money and I can tell you that for some people, loving fast cars and being able to buy a fast car comes down to $ first.

Just my .002 on money:
My first car was a 1989 240sx because it was the fastest, coolest car in my price range at the time.
A few years later, I bought a used 1993 300ZX non-turbo because it was the fastest, coolest car in my price range at the time.
A few years later, I bought a brand new Acura Integra GSR manual because it was the fastest, coolest, new car in my price range at the time. In hindsight, I wished I would have bough the used turbo Supra instead, but the insurance would have been more than the loan payment!
Etc. etc.

I absolutely love it. Sometimes I drool over 0-60 times of 3.5 seconds or less and consider a different car, but in the real world on real streets when you are not the only one on the road, it is hard to justify the premium to achieve that level of performance.
Despite what the magazines say, if you really feel you truly 'require' more performance, I would say that there are deeper issues that should be resolved before worrying about what car to purchase, lol!
Also, the exclusivity factor is kinda cool. I live in an area where more expensive cars are common and usually see at least one super car whenever I drive somewhere. The only time I feel the other car is superior is when it is a proper super car.
I am a very particular and detail-oriented person, so I am rarely satisfied. First car that I am truly satisfied with. My only complaint is the transmission. Speed is fine for upshifts, but downshifting is slow, ridiculous, and has to be performed sequentially in manual mode.
Of course, I wish there were more aftermarket support and that Toyota didn't have this arrogant stance against modifications.
Edit: The other minor complaints: Resolution of instrument cluster seems low, maybe 720, which is just a tad annoying given how new the car is.
Multimedia/nav system. The track pad isn't as bad as everybody complains about, but the system itself isn't great.
Bluetooth audio issues. It might be a problem with my phone although I have it replaced once, but Bluetooth audio always glitches every few seconds.
Fuel tank capacity is too low!

Inventory of low mile used/cpo RC-F is extremely low 500 miles around los angeles. That makes me want the car even more so. The only thing I don't like about the car is the nav and trackpad, pretty horrible, but I don't really care. I rarely use navi in my current car. The red interior in the RCF is stunning.
Does the RCF's navigation show highway traffic?

I did not pay for sirius.
You can see on page 104 it says traffic data can be received via HD radio or Lexus App Suite (I do pay for the app suite).
Page 284 says you can select receiving method or use both. I have both turned on.
Would have to watch the 3 car icon to see if HD every shows up, I dont remember it. I do get some sat broadcasts (free as a promo I guess)
I found a Lexus web page, http://www.lexus.com/enform/in-dash-technology that says traffic info is subscription free via HD Radio.

You can try a clear bra to help minimize any front end damage. I'd recommend a full front end if you do a lot of highway driving. You'll have protection on the side mirrors, front bumper, headlights, hood, and fenders.
Not cheap but worth it if you're concerned about your paint.

I find WAZE works better.......it even warns you of "reported threats (cops), hazards, and etc" ahead.
