Issue with my new RCF
Make sure you get assurance from them in writing that none of the "work" they are about to do will EVER show up in CarFax or AutoCheck as this will greatly diminish the resell value of the car. So basically if they have a body shop or if they send the car to one of their buddy body shops it will be "internal". But your car is BLACK in color which is very touchy.
Incidentally "a friend of mine" who took delivery of a brand new LX 570 a few years ago found out a month or so later when washing the big SUV that the luggage rails had some damaged on the "side that faces inside" that is only visible if you get a ladder and look from top down and the "inside" side of the rooftop rails. The damage was not really by anything hitting or rubbing on it (I don't think BC the material is still very smooth without any nicks or indentations. I think it was a painting defect at the factory that somehow escaped scrutiny).
Long story short...... The selling Lexus dealership took care of the problem without any fuss and actually apologized. It was an ordeal for them to get the roof rails off to replace them on both sides BC they had to take the entire inside ceiling liner out to get to the bolts holding down the roof rails. I personally saw the big clean area they had set aside just to work on this mess. In the end they made it ALL GOOD.
I think if you approach them nicely, kindly, and in a nonthreatening way, they should work with you to make it right.
Good luck.

Hey, Congrats on the new car. Sorry to read of your troubles, those pictures dont look too bad. hopefully some good rubbing compound can get that out. I see you are in New York as well. Would you mind sharing where you bought your car from? I purchased a GSF recently and my car too was loaded with swirls. Had my guy do a full paint correction, Xpel clear bra and ceramic pro. I highly recommend ceramic pro for you car especially since its black. My is Ultrasonic blue and everything shows up as well. Car is much easier to maintain with the coating.
Also If you need a guy, which i see you already have. I recommend Sanford Auto Spa in Merrick, NY he did a phenomenal job on my car. Just thought id mention him in the event you may be using him as well, since you mentioned he works on high end cars. This guy does to.

Thanks for the congrats! I really really love the car, sadly all this is putting a damper on it for now. Hopefully it will be peacefully resolved and I can fall fully in love with the car again! I purchased from Lexus of Smithtown, where are you located? I'm in suffolk county. I was thinking of getting the ceramic pro/clear bra but got a fairly astronomical price for the clear bra on the front of the car (hood / bumper / fenders). Would you mind Private messaging me to go over some pricing figures?
I'm not using them but I think I've heard of them before. Wouldn't hurt to contact them about some pricing. I'm also speaking with Larry Kosilla from AMMO nyc about possibly working with me. But no idea how crazy his prices will be haha.
I'm not sure if this is a joke or serious haha, I will have to look at this in my owners manual. Either way, thank you!
Wow....it is in the owners manual LOL
■ Self-restoring coat* The vehicle body has a self-restoring coating that is resistant to small surface scratches caused in a car wash etc. ● The coating lasts for 5 to 8 years from when the vehicle is delivered from the plant. ● The restoration time differs depending on the depth of the scratch and outside temperature. The restoration time may become shorter when the coating is warmed by applying warm water. ● Deep scratches caused by keys, coins, etc. cannot be restored. ● Do not use wax that contains abrasives

Wow, pretty neat about the self restoring paint, lol.
On another note, I'm surprised that this doesn't happen more often. Cars have to sit out in the sun/elements as they can only put a few cars at a time on the show room floor.
But yes, they definitely would have addressed all of those issues if you would have let them clean it before leaving...That the exact reason why they want to detail the car before it leaves....!
Good luck.

Realize this only works somewhat on very very small spider web scratches. Its almost useless, at least on 2015 paint. The paint and clear coat is soft.
After having my RC-F for almost 2 years, I found that I must try to keep away from any surface wiping.
I only wipe the surface after I have used a foam lance to coat any dirt. I dont wipe dry but blow off as much of the water off as possible. I NEVER use waterless wash and wipe.
I now have it coated with Ceramic Pro 9H and I still never wipe it dry. Even Ceramic Pro will scratch.
In 2015 I once took a pic of trying the self-restoring fix with hot water. I was not impressed. Its hard to photograph. I turned up the exposure to show the spider webs before and after in 2 areas.

Nice!!, i purchased from Lexus of Smithtown as well. Blue/Red GSF. But yes my car was swirled up pretty bad too... Their customer service is pretty good though I strongly believe they will rectify the situation for you. I remember seeing a Black RCF on the showroom floor, wonder if you bought the same one. Anyway, beautiful car!!! Let us know how it goes
^^^ Also possible lol.. I have shown that I am extremely **** with how I want to care cared for, so I don't think they would have wasted their time talking up their one detailer if they knew I would just come back and complain more. I haven't corrected anything yet, it was going to be a pretty expensive job and instead was recommended to go back to the dealer and have them correct it. Looked over a couple of black vehicles in their showroom which looked fantastic, so I have trust in this guy haha.
I was thinking of ordering ceramic pro and coating the car myself, I assume it's not too difficult?

You will also agonize over your first rock chip. I have clear bra on more than 50% of my car -so..., of course I get a rock that hits an inch past where the clear bra covers on the rear panel. F@$%! At least I was smart enough to do 100% of the hood, A-pillars, and carbon fiber roof/spoiler. Some guys do clear bra on 100% of the car - I may shell out for that on my next high end car...
Congrats though. I hope they make it right.

You can get it on amazon for like 50 bucks. Well worth it....

Thanks so much for the compliment :-), would love to see your GSF
If you are OCD about your paint (like me!), and you have never used a ceramic coating, spend a $100 and have a professional detail shop do it for you. Or, practice on a car that you don't care about.

That would have drove me nuts, but...if like me you plan to drive and enjoy your car, it's bound to happen at some point! Doing everything you can to protect it while enjoying it is very wise though. Thank you!
If I could find someone to do it for $100 I absolutely would! I was quoted $600 for a "stage 1" application! lol

UPDATE
Lexus of Smithtown didn't give me a single issue during the entire process. They were more than happy to work with me and ensure I was happy with my purchase. My salesman who provided the car, the delivery manager, and the detailer were all COMPLETELY understanding and concerned with rectifying the situation.
After speaking with the manager/detailer while looking over the car, I felt confident in the detailers ability to treat the car right. The detailer (Jerry), had/worked on the car from Wednesday afternoon under afternoon today. I am extremely happy with the final product. Jerry truly loves cars and has immense pride in his work. He treats the car like his own and puts an incredible amount of time into what he does. He easily put 10-20 hours into the job. He basically did a top down paint correction. Not only was the end product phenomenal, but he ensured that he was taking the least possible amount of clear off of the car to keep it as untouched as possible. Jerry is an extremely talented detailer and deserves a sizable raise in my opinion! LOL. I spoke with the delivery manager and my salesperson to put in a great word for him, as well as giving him a nice tip, it was truly deserved. My RCF was corrected to near perfection. It's one step down from perfect show quality correction, which was not needed at all and I'm happy he didn't cut into it anymore than needed. Most would feel the car was done to perfection anyway. I can't speak highly enough about his work, anyone on long island, you can bring your car to Lexus of Smithtown and feel confident that Jerry will take care of you.
All in all, I am very very pleased with how the dealership handled the issues presented. All persons involved did everything they could to make sure I was happy. This all works out perfectly because tomorrow is my birthday and the entire situation was fully taken care of just in time for it. They also all wished me a happy birthday AND I received a phone call from my salesperson wishing me a happy birthday after I got home! lol

Hi RCF100 I went true something similar I bought my rcf in march the car was there for a few months that mean people test drove the car a few times I noticed that they were a few scratches, around the back bumper inside the doors etc....they fix some but I'm also **** about my things so I took it to the dealership again, and they refused to fix it so.What I did I call Lexus head office and about 2 days they call back to have the car completely detail at no charge so that what I will do if u are not happy just call them and they will take care of u.....Good luck......
