Default Any tips for the drag strip?

I did a quick search but couldn't find any tips on how to improve the track times for the drag strip? I took my 2016 RCF out to the race track's drag strip (street legal track night) and got smoked by most cars, including a GT-R (acceptable, I guess) and a Jeep (embarrassing, but I did find out he had supercharged his 3.4L). I know there is no launch mode, but even in Sport Plus I found it took a couple of seconds before the revs really kicked in. But that time, it was already too late. My times for the 1/4 mile were 13.4-ish seconds? The GT-R was 11 seconds.

Any tips? Any mods I could consider?

I haven't took mine to the drag strip, hopefully some of the guys on here that have will chime in. I'm pretty sure though that you should be running 12.8 & 12.9's even being stock. The basic mods would be headers, exhaust, smooth tube, Apexi Controller, just basic ones like you would on any other car (some guys said that some of the dealerships are doing some kind of a tune, not sure how much it actually helps, maybe a quicker throttle response). I know one of the guys on here is even running Nitrous on his. Use your Search feature & put in RCF Drag Racing & see if that helps! GL

try launching in manual while in sport+ expert mode (if you are not getting traction at launch then take off expert mode and leave the traction control on)
power brake your rpm to 2000rpm at launch(do this slowly because just over 2000rpm on factory tires you will lose traction and the computer will make you take off in 2nd thinking that conditions are slick, also make sure you hit the rev limiter through the top of 4th do not switch into 5th, you will lose momentum.

I haven't tracked my RC F yet so I can't get too specific on pointers. But I have been hitting the drag strip for decades.

You should never leave your traction control on if you want to get a time in the 12's on a stock RC F. I wouldn't even leave it on for "training wheels." You need to learn to launch the car without the traction control. Leaving it on is only wasting your time because you aren't learning anything.

As for 4th gear, it doesn't hit the limiter until around 130 mph*. So there is absolutely no reason to need 5th gear since the RC F traps around 110-113 mph. I read that some people slap it back into automatic after 2nd gear. But some have shown a very slight increase in ET by shifting manually.

I just stumbled onto this and thought I would share it:

Good info there, including some launch pointers.
