Default NAV Rear Video staying on

In 10k miles I have had this problem about 6 times.

The Rear Video stays up on the screen during start up.
Always happens right after you start the car, shift quickly and as Nav comes up. Maybe happens if you start the car and quickly shift to reverse and shift to D maybe before the full startup boot finishes. I can not repeat it, some else is part of the equation to make this fail happen or its just a specific time event.

The the rear view video camera stays on and will not go away until some Nav reset happens. To reset you have power off the car. If you have a destination already set and Nav gives directions it will reset the display to the correct value (map).

I have also had 2 NAV hangs and someone suggested there is a patch.

I hope the Fall 2015 map update will also fix these problems.

Lexus Customer Satisfaction:The App will be updated at the end of September. We hope that this will meet your expectations.

Although I haven't experienced the problem you mention, my Lexus Apps updated yesterday. Has your car asked for permission to update itself yet?

Do you wait at least 30-60 seconds before shifting into Reverse ???

If the System / NAV startup checks are incomplete, I would expect things not to work right...

Happened to me twice on my IS350 after updating to latest nav firmware. After shifting to reverse and then D rear camera stayed on for a few seconds.

I never never wait that long to shift out of park. I watch the
startup more closely to try see if there is a pattern.

I had the same problem a couple of months ago. I took a video and photo of the problem and showed it to the service manager. I could not reproduce the problem but I had proof on my camera phone. Service manager said he will research and check if there is any updates or fixes. Glad to see someone else had the same issue. At first I thought it was due to our hot weather causing the infortainment to overheat.

Honestly I think that's the answer...

If the startup screens are incomplete then it can cause a glitch..

Have you ever timed the start up cycle ??

I guess I can say I never shift out of Park that fast after Start up..
(Especially Cold Start)

Give some time for that oil to move around

I just checked the wait the console startup screen to completed in 8 seconds, the Nav completes in about 20 seconds.

NAV I have the screen DISPLAY off so I never see it come up, So I timed this and warning messages, then continue at the bottom, and then the map would comes up after about 20 seconds from ignition.

I almost positive, the times I get the fail, I rush the shift to R and then D due to my short driveway. Trying to repro the fail with a short wait does not show any problem. Might be a small timing window in the startup boot.

I will get the latest NAV software and patch with the 10k service when I have them install my JoeZ exhaust..... which I hope has shipped.

Yeah OP; give your engine a chance to build full oil pressure and allow high-idle to go down before shifting and driving away man. No need to wait 5 minutes, but shouldn't shift/drive immediately after starting a cold engine either, especially in cooler/colder weather. And the extra benefit is you wouldn't have any more hang-ups. A win-win scenario.
