Oh and this is Toyotas only second V8 engine with any kinda of good sound ever in its history, and all of a sudden it's all that matters. Kinda funny.
Well, that begs the question, have you ever heard a bad sounding R34 GTR or MK3/MK4 Supra (7M-GTE, 1JZ-GTE, 1G-GTE or 2JZ-GTE)?

RB26DETT was the best sounding turbo engine ever made closely followed by modified 2JZ-GTE and then the Ferrari F40. Yeah, all of them had turbo lags, but they had enormous presence, aura and sense of occasion. Also, both have header that flow so well that makes them capable of delivering torque all the way to redline giving a sense of endless torque delivery (in the case of RB26DETT, 8500 rpm) and don't run out of breath and plummet after 6000 rpm.

On second thought, maybe BMW could have seek some inspiration from the RB26DETT and 2JZ-GTE

you cant compare the sounds since emissions have changed greatly. its not as simple as slapping turbos on, making huge power while all sounding good while having 4 sets of cats for emssions. i already proved the m4 can sounn ridiculously good with the meistercraft exhaust.

Yeah not comparable, and the stock supra doesn't sound so hot either. Mine had a hks super dragger exhaust, single turbo and it sounded awesome, but again all after market.

The reason I bring up the sound is the only real critism I hear about the m3/m4 at all is the sound, it just seemed funny from the Toyota crowd (I'm included in this) when we've never hung out hat on sound Ever, mainly reliability.

And to the troll comment, ha, I've owned more Toyotas and lexus' than most anyone on this board... Farthest thing from a troll, just getting involved in this board cause I'm seriously considering the RCF.... But I'm a car enthusiasts first and not a fan boy towards any 1 brand. Sorry.

And BTW this is the RCF vs M4 thread.... Opinions and facts should be welcome.

Where is the video? Can you post that?

M4 still sounds garbage with arguably the best exhaust for M cars (Akrapovic full exhaust). What kind of rabbit did the Meistercraft pull out of the hat that Akrapovic could not? Are you sure you are not talking about Meisterschaft?

This is what it sounds like with the Eisenmann exhaust

Or Akrapovic full exhaust

akrapovic exhausts never sounded too good to me with most applications besides the f10 m5/m6

Yeah, I thought so. You confused Meisterschaft with Meistercraft. Different companies.

It sounds OK. Better than stock, I will give you that. However, it is not what I would call it anywhere near great exhaust note. Still very far from "ridiculously good" sounding exhaust as per your claim.

No worries.

I still think the older BMW straight six are among the best sounding engines ever. Here is the M3 CSL, pure racing.

Proof that sound is subjective... I think the s54 is one of the worse sounding engines ever.

Well of course, sound is subjective. Which would you nominate as the best ?

I would say the b10 that came in the e34 M5. Love the sound and performance of that I6.

I'm also tired of hearing that the S55 isn't special, and that it's just a derivative of the N55. Here's a fact: The only parts the engine shares with the N55 are ancillary items like, perhaps, the water pump. The crank is forged, the block is closed deck, iron-plasma cylinder-bore surfaces instead of heavier iron liners (very impressive if you have a clue), new pistons, rods, built heads with fortified parts, etc, etc.

The S55 just came out and we are already seeing 560 wheel hp, and 600 wheel torque motors on the dyno with just a tune, exhaust and maybe some downpipes, all on stock turbos. The engine is a masterpiece and it's strong as hell.
Problem with what engine--the RCF?

You are basing this on your first hand experience with a car that has not even been tested as a full production vehicle?

This is far from objective and scientific. Where are the comprehensive metrics to support your assumptions? Where...?
