I think a more appropriate question would be:

-Sunroof
OR
-Carbon Fiber Roof

Aesthetics/feature versus performance (?)

To answer the OPs question, yes, I would want TVD and a moonroof. A moonroof is one of those "must haves" for me. I use mine all the time. Yes I know it adds weight, but I'm not out there trying to shave off every last second off of a track time, so I don't mind the added weight. I have forged, but heavier than stock wheels and about 50 extra lbs of audio equipment in my current ISF. These are things that mean more to me than weight savings.

If push comes to shove, I think I'd even rather have the moonroof over the TVD, though I'd have to drive a non-TVD model to be absolutely sure. Since I don't track my cars it's hard to say how much I'd miss it.

That's pure cost cutting / margin padding.
There is no performance detriment to not having those small fog lights.
You would NEVER see a German car without fogs, especially at this price point.

I don't really get it. I really want to buy the RC F, but then Lexus does small stupid things like this, and it leaves me

I guess you're not supposed to drive the RC F in fog?
Really? My last E92 M3 (Competition Package) didn't have fog lights, and neither does the new M4, and they're both about as German as it gets. My current Mercedes CLA45 AMG doesn't have fog lights either. Have to say, I didn't miss them even though I thought I would...

Considering a RC-F without the Performance package, is this a no no?

I am saving about 5K....looking at a very low mileage 2015.

No TSD, no carbon fiber roof etc.

A 2015 with 8750 miles for $43,700 is a steal and most likely here in the U.S. a salvage or dealer buy back vehicle. The price is too good to be true but am not sure about Canada.

there is almost no difference in resell. I have the non-performance package on my 2015 and adding the check box for the performance package and unchecking the moon roof on KBB, black book, Nada, or Manheim auction adds like $500 to the trade/private party value.

Agreed, for the US that is too good to be true, if I found that car with no salvage/wreck/buyback I would buy it in a heartbeat... not sure about Canada pricing.

TVD and carbon roof don't appear to affect resale too much in my opinion, it could help or hurt depending on the buyer.

If they can force us to take a $7000 package just to get the TVD, why would they give that up?

I for one am ready to order the RC F, and I think the TVD is a must have. The car was obviously designed to have it, and will undoubtedly increase turn in, reduce understeer, etc. I think it will also improve winter driving traction, which is admittedly what I am interested in. (I'm not going to track the car - can't afford reducing engine life and replacing tires and brakes every other track day.)

Anyway, my biggest gripe is that in order to get the TVD you must forgo the moonroof.

Since Lexus has still not finalized the options, I wanted to start a poll to see how many of you WOULD get the MOONROOF + TVD.

Perhaps we can influence Lexus to offer the TVD with the Performance package or even in the base car (which comes std with a moonroof).

It will increase winter grip. I have a basic LSD on my 370z which i drive all winter here in Winnipeg, Canada. I put studded snow tires on it. With this combination winter grip is superb. I pull away from SUV types who are running all season tires with ease. I would not want a vehicle without LSD and if a TV one was available it'd be my choice.I am considering the RC-F but I don't want to give up a sunroof.
