Above is a pretty technical article about hood race vents...dunno how much of it applies to our cars given that mine only has a tiny hole to drain rain as far as I can tell. But it is an interesting read; particularly about how some add on companies "enhance" their claims by stipulating 150+mph air flow instead of the more useful 80-120.

You're supposed to pop the bottom cover off to make the vent functional.
