Greetings all. Today, we had a significant amount of rain here in lovely southern California (where it never rains), and I got the BSM Not Available warning on my dash, accompanied with the orange exclamation mark. Keep in mind that this is the second time I got this error message during the same rainy conditions, resolving itself when the rain disappeared. A Lexus rep told me this is normal and can happen sometimes. Do you all agree? If this is true, that would be pretty disappointing, especially during a time of harsh weather, when the BSM system would be the most helpful to us.
Seems fishy to me. We live in NC where it rains, a lot! We have never had the BSM warning light come on. Now, on the other hand, when I have my 2019 NX F Sport, when it would rain the front parking assist warning would disable the sensors. As soon as the rain was gone, it worked like normal.
I hear all kinds of complaints about BSM errors in the rain. As far as a "Lexus issue",
nope. I see them from Ford, GM, and Chrysler more than anything else. My area
here in Southern USA has gotten more than it's fair share of rain in the last several
months, my BSM working just fine. 2015 RC350 Fsport. Must be a short/bad unit in yours.
I'd get another dealer opinion if that one just blows it off. Lexus body shop guys would
know, they have to reset these after repairs, or at least they should.
I don't know if the "BSM Not Avail.." is stored as a code but if not, I believe it's gonna be hard for Lexus to replicate this error since this doesn't happen all the time.
And the manual says that it may not work correctly, so what do expect of the dealer? There are several reasons for it not working in which case you would need to pay more attention to your surroundings. Not trying to be smart just observant.
