Default 20K Mile Service?

we leased our 2017 RC 200t F Sport and it is due for the 20K service. I have contacted the dealer to see how much that would run us, $247 before taxes is the number they gave me. WOW! since ours is an F Sport with staggered wheels that means no tire rotation. so, is going to the dealer for service a must? that price just seems REALLY high to me. it's basically an oil change and filter, air filter, and topping off the fluids. at least thats what they told me.

is going to a dealer for service a must do, or can someone perform the services for me since it is a lease? I am in NC if that matters.

Do your oil every 5k air filter every 15 and cabin at 30. Keep all your receipts. Don’t buy into the xx service intervals they offer

the first two services were obviously free so I let them do those. we have driven about 10K miles on the oil they put in the car at the 10K service and it still looks new. so I am guessing it is a synthetic oil?

as for the rest of it, this isn't a daily driver anymore so it doesn't get driven much or hard. but I will take into account what you said. thank you!

At 20,000 the oil needs to be changed. This should be about $80. Your local Toyota dealer will do it for less. The filters are recommended at 30,000 miles. I have never taken our RX or ES in for a 5,000, 15,000 25,000 mile service. It is a lot of things inspected that IMO do not need inspecting while paying big bucks. Every 10,000 miles the oil needs to be changed and every 30,000 miles the brake fluid. I always ask for just this and never a 10,000 or 30,000 miles service. Again paying for a lot of inspections that are not needed IMO. Once a year I change the air and cabin filter. Buy both on line for a $40 total and takes five minutes to do both.

I change my own oil every 10,000 miles since it is synthetic. If it was not synthetic oil then I would change the oil at every 5,000 miles. I typically change both air filters before annual vehicle inspection. That way I do not have to keep a record of miles driven since I drive around 14k miles per year. I buy Mobil1 synthetic oil at Costco and I buy oil & air filters at my local Toyota dealership. I gladly pay $5.15 for the OEM oil filter.

thanks guys. I will plan on taking it elsewhere to get the oil changed. the stealership just seems like a waste of money.
