Default Adhesive Tape Only Spoiler Install Help

For those that did not drill the deck lid when installing a spoiler and are relying on adhesive only, what 3M tape did you use and would recommend? The white, grey or black (acrylic plus?)?

Also, what thickness do you recommend? 30, 45 or 60 mil thickness? Would appreciate any help and guidance you guys can provide when doing a spoiler install this way. If it matters, I've got the ebay sourced spoiler and for those wondering the fit is perfect and the paint is flawless and matches extremely well (Ultra White).

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Wayne

If you want the ULTIMATE adhesion, then the 3M VHB or 3M Exterior Mounting Tape (THE ULTIMATE)

A note of caution, if you do opt for the 3M Exterior Mounting Tape, if the surface is prepped correctly, the tape will be pretty much PERMANENTLY BONDED, and removal will CAUSE DAMAGE... BEWARE!!!!!

. . . or you could use masking tape, as long as you don't drive faster than about 55 mph.
(If the 3M VHB is permanent, excuse me, PERMANENT, and will cause DAMAGE if removed, why not just use the bolts?)

Rust. I never like to compromise the factory finish if I can help it.

did this a couple weeks ago w/ the factory spoiler.
i used the 3m outdoor double sided tape. it's gray on one side, red on the other. rated for 15lbs.
there were much stronger options available. i believe i saw a 30lb and a 60lb rating at home depot.

the only difference that we may have is that my spoiler came w/ double sided tape attached all around the spoiler (1/2" wide). between that and the shape of the spoiler, there really isnt that much space to fit the 3m tape. i had to splice it in half and attach where i could. it's held up well so far through a lot of moisture and a car wash. the spoiler is on there pretty solid.

also, if you're afraid of the rust, you can always touch up the drilled area with touchup paint or some other sealant. the reason i went w/ the tape is because a spoiler is a lot cheaper than a trunk, especially after the opti coat pro.
