Default RC Valuation

Wanted to let all of you know. I absolutely love my RC but it is too small for me and my family. Impulse buy. The car is in immaculate condition like it just left the lot. Over a year old only 12k miles. Wondering what the trade in value is on an original sticker of $53k? One year later only $35k?! $20k drop in one year. To think Lexus holds its value when it was sold to me. Very disappointed. I expected a loss but not like that.

i'll always feel bad for people who buy at sticker price.... depreciation on a brand new car is horrible no matter what model/brand vehicle you buy. i just bought my RC in january with a sticker price of 51K and chewed them down to 42K. these vehicles are marked up a ton.

I bought mine the first month they hit the floor. They didn't budge on price. The reason they dropped so much was because they weren't selling and the 16's were coming out so Lexus gave them incentives to sell them driving the price down. It isn't due to depreciation. Yes a chunk of it would be but not $20k in a year on a Lexus too.

I traded in an RC back in January of this year with 18,500 miles and I got $39,800 for a trade in value and then 3 months later I missed it so much I went and bought another one.

Trying to sell my 2015 RC350 F Sport ($52k new) with 10.5K miles in perfect condition. No action at all. Trying to sell for $39k. I've never had a new car lose this much value in two years. It looks like I'll have to drop to $34k to sell. Are others finding the same loss?

general rule of thumb is a new leftover should be discounted 20-24% to sell. So why would anyone buy a used one for the same price as a new one? First year depreciation is around 30%, even more if traded in.

I really feel bad for first year buyers that paid full sticker or more.

yea, unfortunately, $34,000 still might be a tough sell. I looked into an RC350 F Sport and was quote not much more for a brand new leftover 2016 model.
