40 is not bad at all for a trade right now, i am not looking to trade in my RC but i was out driving the Corvette and the Mercedez E 250 diesel and i let them appraise the car for the heck of it and the most they would offer is $36k.

Pre owned RC 350 F Sport is going for 39k at the auctions right now, so carmax giving you 40k is actually not bad. RC F owners are REALLY hurting right now.

I have seen some RCF in the high 50's. Is there any particular reason why it is worst for the RCF than it is for the RC350?

the demand im guessing.

I might be in the market to trade my RC because it sits to low and it is aggravating a pre-existing back condition and I was offered 43,000 at the dealer for it

Mileage is about 10,500. Msrp was 53,058 or thereabouts. Can't really remember. Car will be a year old July 3rd

Uh oh! I really like the 2016 GS's. I was thinking to ride out the RC and hop into a GS. Hopefully my dealership hooks it up for one since the miles and condition will be excellent. Crossing my fingers.
