Lexus RC/RCF 2015 Illuminated door sill plates
Hi All,
I just picked up a pair of Lexus RC/RCF 2015 Illuminated door sill plates to install in my RC 350. These replace your current ones. Would anyone be interested in a DIY so that they can do this for them selves?
Thanks
2/14/2015 - I just received the new illuminated sill plates and am posting up a few pics of what they look like before installation. The LCD background does not look like you can take them out. I'll post some pics after I get get one in, and also in the instructions it talks about disconnecting the battery so you can disconnect the two main wiring harness connectors from each door. I'm going to see if there is an easier way to connect them.
I can't upload the the instructions that came with them as they are too large 11 MB, any suggestions? Even zipped they are still 10 MB.

Not too much. Most of it is plug and play. I downloaded a PDF that shows it on a 2015 NX, and I'm pretty sure most of it applies to our car as well. I will incorporate theirs and my write up with pics to be more model specific for the RC350.

I would love to have those on my RC. My last two Lexus cars had them, and I always thought it was an elegant touch, and I was disappointed to see that Lexus is not now putting them in all their vehicles. If we can get the parts from Sewell (for example) and if we have some reasonable instructions, that would be an excellent upgrade. Thanks very much.

I put them on my car about a week ago. They're different than the rest though as the illuminated portion sits in the inner sill and the outer sill is replaced with a plain black plastic strip.

That looks very nice, and I'm looking forward to adding this to mine. I have the Infrared and am wondering if I could replace the white/blue illumination with some red LEDs. Do you think this could be done?

It's possible, how are your soldering skills? I'm thinking that the LED's' under the Lexus logo are really a tray of SMD (Surface Mount Devices) LED's to get that even light distribution. Let me put it this way I'm not taking mine apart to look so we won't know until someone buys them and takes them apart.

They are on eBay from a Lexus dealer. Just put this into the eBay search field: LEXUS RC/RCF 2015 ILLUMINATED DOOR SILL PLATES and you will find them.
