So I click on that "T" and make a box to type in but when I type the letters don't show up. It seems to be typing the letters on top of each other? It's kind of like the text is being covered by the box I made to type the text in. I know that probably makes absolutely no sense but its REALLY hard to describe what's happening. Is there anyway to reset ALL the setting on PS back to default?

 

when you are using the text tool and drag text cursor over the canvas, it will make a text box. when this is done by mistake (usually happens by a quick click and accidental slight drag), you will experience the error. at least i think this is what you are experiencing. try clicking on the canvas with the text cursor without moving the mouse at all. i hope this helps.
