BI will be installing a BRZ LSD Differential on my IS250 soon. My question is, does the Diff cover need a gasket? If so, what is the factory part number? I can't seem to find one. Or do you use "gasket maker" to seal the diff cover? I'm planning to change out all seals before the install.
I only found one after market company (FRSport) who sells a diff gasket but it's hella expensive to ship to hawaii. The gasket is $14 but shipping is $40. Go figure!!
Shouldn't need to crack open the case. The swap is just the two snout bolts, 3 cover bolts, 4 driveshaft bolts, then getting everything aligned to pull the half-shafts out. IIRC, I had to pelvic thrust the side that was pointing down while aiming the other side at it's shaft and prying out with a flathead and a prybar. You're not going to be able to let gravity hold onto the weight while getting the stub shafts out or in.
Our BRZ diff showed up ready to stab, just needed oil.
Edit: Looks like form-in-place gasket is what's used on the cover. I think the stubs are sealed by spring-wire + rubber oil seals...
