Default Muffler delete on 09 IS250 sounds like $***!!

Ok so here’s my dilemma.. as far as I know I have the 2.25” diameter pipe.. cats in, resos in, mufflers out..

I watched about 30 YouTube videos of how my car is going to sound with the mufflers deleted and it sounded awesome... it got them cut out and upon starting the car, it was (for lack of a better term) “different”...

theres no throaty sound... no “gurgle”... it sounds like an old American V6 car and I absolutely hate it.. it sounds like it’s struggling to get sound out of it...

has anyone ever had this issue? And if so how did you fix it/what could be wrong?

thanks in advance guys! I’m going to try and upload a video

If you hate it now wait till tomorrow morning on a cold start. Your neighbors are going to hate it too. The whole point of the mufflers is to muffle the sound.

Depending on how the exhaust is hacked. Maybe you can weld the stocks back on for now. Search for a decent axle back, and call it a day. If you want a good sounding exhaust search Redspencer's, or Aspects thread builds. Yeah all exhaust videos sound cool on YouTube, but being in the car and hearing it drone is another story.

If you cut the exhaust and can't weld it back on, I've had great success with these style of clamps on previous cars... Plus they're cheap. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-683250 Just make sure you get the right size.

that isn’t the issue for me... the sound of the actual exhaust, like the tone, sounds like crap, it literally sounds very monotone, there’s no rasp to it like the videos I’ve watched.. the mufflers were cut out and welded with pipe professionally. Decent welds from what I can tell too.

it sounds like a completely different motor than the 2.5 4GR-FSE... nothing like the videos I watched.. almost feels and sounds like the exhaust is struggling..

If you want something different, pick some compact single chamber mufflers, drop the mid-pipe and install them where the resonators are now. Run duals out back and throw some tips on it.

Get an invidia midipipe man ! It’s like $300 and I think it’ll help you out. I have muffler delete and invidia midipipe and it’s pretty solid. I get a lot of compliments on it ! 🙌 It will make you louder but I think it’ll work out any sounds you don’t like.
