Y Pipe wt Gaskets Replacement
Hi,
I have an IS250 2011 with under 42000 miles on it. After my last maintenance check the dealer told me that I will need Y pipe wt gaskets and left rear axle wt inside replaced. they are quoting me $5k for this. Is these repairs normal for a 9 year old, low mileage car?
If they are, am I better off just getting a new car?

It sounds like they want to replace the whole exhaust system? Looking at your profile you are in Connecticut?
Salt from roads will tear up the under carriage parts in no time. Are you having any check engine lights on?
You may take your vehicle to an independent muffler shop to look over the exhaust system. Get a second opinion from them.

No check engine lights yet, the way the dealer stated it was " technician recommends", so they made it seem like I can wait a little, but couldn't tell me how long. Also, my car has been sounding louder at start up, not sure if it's related.
The loudness is probably a bad section of the exhaust with a hole somewhere. Take the car to a muffler shop preferably with good reviews. Have them look it over it should be way cheaper than the dealer. The dealer will use OEM parts hence the price tag. The muffler shop may only need to cut a bad section out, and weld in a new section.
