Hi, I have a 2012 Lexus IS350 AWD, with under 65k miles. The car has a clunk, very faint in sound, that happens when coming to a stop, usually when the car is downshifting from 4-3, 4-2 if it skips a gear. Also, I noticed that it does the same clunk when I'm coasting down hill and the car is in a low RPM and the second i touch the gas pedal to give it some gas it does that clunk as well. Any ideas if it needs engine mounts, any help is highly appreciated it because the dealership here in Michigan is trying to rip me off.
Here's to giving you an idea of what they motor mounts look like. They are pretty standard looking across the V style engines. They are soft as hell. So it could be very well your motor mounts. By the video that is abnormal movement.
Something you might do is get a trusted good driver and power brake the vehicle (in gear, brakes on in both forward and reverse) and watch the rear diff. Does it the driveline or axles move or clunk.
Before sticking your head under the vehicle have them verify each test method to ensure the vehicle DOES NOT MOVE! Proceed at your own risk! I am not responsible for you or anyone you ask to help you.
I would not recommend you do this if the person in the car has any reason to hate you as this will give them a chance to run you over! Just saying.....
