I think since the platform is so young, modifying the OEM turbo is the logical first Turbo upgrade

Phase 2 of testing started, the second modification was done on the turbo to make the compressor wheel slightly larger than Phase 1, in order to produce more power and better efficiency.

An aftermarket turbo will have to be specifically designed for our motor since the back housing bolts directly to the block, then other components will have to be customized as well to work with or bypassed.

Someone like Full-Race could make a "manifold" that would work with off the shelf twin-scroll turbos like Borg-Warner EFR's.
They could even change it to a single-scroll setup with a "manifold" like this. https://www.full-race.com/store/borg...urbo-manifold/

You are correct. A customized bracket can be developed to use an aftermarket turbo, but its just a matter of who's willing to support this and is the market available?

Could you imagine the 8AR with this turbo hanging off the side?

Sorry Tony if I'm stepping on your toes. Just trying to point out the next step that could happen after the stock frame upgrade you are doing.

It would be pretty sick! Anxiously waiting to see what Tony can get out of the hybird turbo.

I guess you could say specifically designed but it would not as big as a feat as it sounds when said like that. I'm just worried about pricing from this hybrid upgrade.

This is the only "big turbo" upgrade that i've seen so far and its from TRD so we all know that it would be ridiculously priced.
