Default Tanabe left side muffler gasket

For those of you with a Tanabe... I had to replace the driver side muffler gasket where it meets the Y-pipe as it was pretty toasted, the exhaust was from another member here on CL. Bought a replacement gasket directly from Tanabe/More Japan, and after putting it all back together, it appears there's a little bit of a gap right at the top where the pipes meet at the gasket. I'm unsure if this is by design, or maybe it's a bit bent... For the time being, I put some aluminum exhaust tape around the entire area to cover it up as I was getting tired of fiddling underneath the car trying to get it to line up properly, but I swear it sounds a bit off... Got quite a bit of a deep sound in the cabin around 2k RPM, unless this is how the Tanabe is.

If you feel like it's leaking I've had good luck using the orange high temp rtv sold at autozone. It is rated up to 750f so it will hold up just fine.

Well, I already wrapped it in exhaust tape, I'm just not sure if there is definitely supposed to be a gap there or not. If the tape is fine, I might just leave it alone and not fight with getting it to line up correctly (unless it def is bent). otherwise I guess I could try the rtv route...

I took a picture and circled where the gap exactly is. https://i.imgur.com/9QLNCsj.jpg
