Default Adding performance to a GS300?

I was having some tint put on my 1998 GS300 and was asking a guy at the shop (which does tint, rims, and some performance stuff) about any performance parts he may be able to get to improve the HP of my car. He stated that no one makes performance parts for the GS but there is some aftermarket available but he would not recommend or order any of them for me. I asked about the L-Tuned items but he said no real HP could be gained by adding exhaust or cold air intakes. What do you guys think? I would love to get some suggestions as well as quality parts and cost.

Thanks, Mark

Mark,

He's wrong an right. Plenty of people make performance parts for the GS. Start reading these forums and you'll find lots of info on them. There are lots of good exhausts as well, just depends on the look and sound you want to obtain. However, none of them really give you claimed HP gains... only 1 or 2 hp at best unless you're adding something like a turbo to the car.

he couldn't just said that he didn't know instead of talking out of his butt to a customer. there sure are plenty of things available. intakes and exhaust do add some power, and change where at power sits as well.

as far as parts and quality, most CL members use quality parts. if they post a picture, they'd only do so with quality parts, so look for pictures and they'll tell what parts they have.

no more advice from a guy that does tints and altezza lights, huh?

good luck finding what you need

Call SRT at (301) 384-7319, they have the best in cold intake/ECU ( I personally had one, and I was definitely happy! ) , or do a search on GS300 Cold Intake. SRT has the most experience (1st Lexus tuner out there), and products (1st cold intake/ecu setup for GS models, 1st aftermarket Forced Induction system, 1st twin turbo setup for GS, you get the picture! lol) in working with aftermarket Lexus GS/IS/SC performance. IMHO They will answer your questions honestly, in terms of your performance wants.
