gs300 GTE-Vvti swap speed limiter

Been looking at this for quite some time. Apparently I need a SCD. HKS type 2 is the only one known to work apparently? Anyone ever install or fix the problem?

I'm also curious about a SLD for a vvt-i setup. Is this the only option?
