I spent several hours digging through the web and have found the following gems, hope others find them of interest. Refer to this prior thread on using octane boost: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...&threadid=70536
And last but certainly not least, here's a link to a site that best describes Choritsu-shi's stand on how little octane boosters actually help: http://www.wauknet.com/douthitt/gas.htm.
It appears that your typical octane booster, regardless of brand, is indeed a waste of money. Per Choritsu-shi, the amount of actual increase is minor. Digging deeper, there is also evidence that many octane boosters can actually damage the fuel system. Once I work through my stash I personally will not be adding octane booster.
But... There are a number of very interesting articles on mixing toluene to increase the octane.
I have to confess that part of me rejects the arguments that off-the-shelf octane boosters are a waste. It's the same part that hopes for magic [cheap and reliable] horse power boosts. I'll be doing a bit more digging when I have the time -- I'm hoping against hope to be convinced in the other direction.
