most performance shops that build turbo kits just use ebay manifolds anyways - the CX racing ones seem to be just fine... as far as intercooler, many have just as good of luck (myself included) with intercoolers off of ebay - are there better ones, probably, but for the power level you are looking for, not quite necessary... mine is an ebay one, bar and plate is the important part, and is undersized for what I am doing with it for now and it still works just fine...
wastegate - Tial or HKS are the big names, but stick with name brand here, and bov - HKS, Tial again, stay with name brands here... Many have had good luck with some ebay brands of both, but I have a HKS knockoff BOV in my garage that broke... no damage done, but it broke none the less...
Ok so I definitely need to go with a bar and plate Intercooler? I will most likely go with hks bov and wastegate. My boys got them on his sti and I love how they look and sound. So if I run basically everything that you've told me and get it tuned what kinda numbers might I be at?
6262 will make 600 easy, if you are looking for 600 reliably though, slightly larger than I suggested injectors, etc... With what I listed though, 500 is more than doable, the only weak link is the transmission... I may be finding the limit of mine within the next few weeks... Right now she is holding together, I'm somewhere around 420 at the wheels on 16 psi, but there is a slight pucker factor every time I'm on it through shifts...
Swap to a r154 or v160/161 transmission and then there is no longer a weak link...
Ok well those were the numbers I was hoping for and good luck with your transmission ad hope it doesn't go out with to much of a bang. I'm sure I will probably do a tranny swap but I hope to maybe keep the stock tranny I have now in case I ever decide to go back to stock which I seriously doubt will happen. What upgrades should I do to the tranny if any? New clutch plate and flywheel?
I'm used to blowing stuff up anymore... If it makes it, it makes it... Transmission wise, on the autos, shimming accumulators in the valve body, installing upgraded clutches and more of them and an upgraded sprag are the way to go... I plan on babying mine as much as possible given the power level I am at and hoping for the best... Those parts for the transmission you said are manual transmission parts and don't change the reliability of one generally, only the performance level...
Yea I don't blame you at all I know stuff ain't as cheap as it uses to be and I've been thinking about doing a tranny swap to a manual. I don't know why but I've always loved an manual they are more fun and you am control them alittle bit more but you can blow em up easier too. I just want to get my is boosted already.

From the factory, the IS auto is stronger than the IS manual trans... But if you are going to swap, R154 and V160/161 are the two best options... R154 is the 5 speed out of a Mk3 Supra turbo, V160 is the 6 speed out of a Mk4 Supra Turbo, V161 is out of a 6 speed Aristo, JDM only...
That's what I've heard and which one do you prefer or think is the best? I think I'm going to end up going with the v160. How hard are they to find?
V160 is great, they are out there, but $$$$ V161 would be better though - better gearing for our rear ends... if you go V160, 1st gear is real short, and only best supported by swapping rear ends, which are not direct bolt up...
So really v1616 would be best? Is it straight bolt up or would I need to change the hearing or rear end? I've done plenty if transmission swaps but how hard is it to do and would I do better to take everything out at first and replace everything?
I was looking at the 6262 today and didn't know which one would go better with the setup I would be running the T3 or T4. Sorry about all the questions and thanks for the help. With the transmission personally which one should you go with?

t4, almost has to be... first off, almost every manifold for the JZ motor is t4, and on top of that, for the flow characteristics of any decently high HP motor, will need the T4 exhaust... a smallish .68 housing would be perfect...
neither one will be great for the transmission...lol more than stock power is sketchy with these transmissions period...
So a good T4 .68 turbo should be ok and probably shouldn't go any bigger than that really. I figured the transmission wouldn't hold up too well so I reckon imma have to upgrade soon after I boost the motor if not before.
