Default BOV Location on IC piping??

On a single turbo 2JZGTE, what would be the best location to install a BOV? I currently have a Tial Q BOV welded after the turbo but before the intercooler. To me it makes more sense to have it mounted before the throttle body and after the intercooler. What do you guys think?

Guess it doesnt really matter, but from an efficiency point of view the hot side makes more sense. You would want to vent the hot air before the intercooler to decrease the speed of your IC getting heat soaked.

I would say before the intercooler inlet on the compressor charge pipe. You are trying to prevent the charged air from flowing back to the compressor and causing surge once the throttle plate closes.

+1 - this is where the standard recirc valve resides on the standard GTE motor, and where I will be putting my recirc TiAL QR valve.

Wherever it makes the loudest "PSSSHHHHH!!!!" noise. Better to scare that unsuspecting motorist in the slow lane with their window down.

Honestly...I'm not really sure it matters all that much. The instant you snap the throttle shut the differential in manifold pressure to charge pipe pressure will open the BPV and vent. I'm sure there is some sort of "pressure wave" that bounces off the throttle plate and threatens to collide with the compressor wheel, but once the BPV is open - regardless of where in it's path it lies - I'm sure that threat is nullified.

But I'm no expert.

It goes on the hot pipe that connects the turbo to your IC
