Default Mean_Gean: what mods are done to your car

I see other posts saying that your car runs 13.79.

What did it take to get your car to run those times ???

THanks

Shane

Lightbulb Particulars

Shane - Here's the scoop on the 13.79 @ 103.17 mph. I'm one HELLUVA driver!!!!
Seriously, the GS4 had ( at that time ) the SRT intake/non-Race ECU; Borlas; Dragon 2800 rpm stall T/C & the 3.76 RMM LSD. I had a little over 15K miles on her & the runs were made in mid-March so the temps here in Louisiana were in the low 50 degree range ( at night when I ran ). I launched at roughly 2400 rpm on 17" Enkei rims & Nitto Extremes lowered to 26 psi & E-shifted at 5600-5700 rpms ( to allow a few hundred rpm gain before the tranny actually shifted! ). Memo to Mo & Marken - HURRY UP with the tranny ECU!!!!!!! I also had roughly 200# of stereo weight in the trunk ( see my pics in the Member's Gallery ) which helped traction but hurt me on the trap speed. Tranny was in "Power" mode & ECT was off. The real key ( IMHO ) is track & car capability knowledge. I've run down State Capital Dragway for over 100 previous runs so I know the staging system & lights very well. Plus, I'd learned where, when & how to launch & shift the GS. Tire pressure was also a factor - the previous run was a 13.98 @ 102.86 mph with the Nittos at 36 psi ( typical everyday driving conditions ). I hit a great light ( .545 sec ) but remember that this is kinda my home track plus the 60' time was excellent ( 1.76 sec ). Pretty much the perfect run ( for me, at least! )
I also think my GS is a little stronger than most ( or responded to the mods better than some of our other Members ) as the dyno showed 258.2 RWHP & 272.2 RWTQ ( roughly 322.7 HP & 340.2 TQ ( flywheel ) using an 80% drivetrain efficiency factor ). FWIW - I was running my G-tech Pro on all the runs & this one yielded a 5.1 0-60 mph time & a corresponding 13.66 @ 13.91 mph so the G-Tech's reasonably accurate for those who don't have ready access to a track ( mine's over 100 miles away ). Haven't dyno'ed the GS since the addition of either the TorqueMaster plugs or "Race" ECU swapout but feel that the car's a little stronger now ( even with 56k+ miles on her ). Now that the weather's cooling off, maybe I'll head back & keep the timing slips this time!!

If I'm not mistaking the Tranny ECU will help with the shifting!

Thumbs up Yep!

If SRT ever finishes this thing ( it's been in development since February of 2001, I think ). it will ( as Pusher said ) firm up the shifts ( also allowing them to to be more precise ). Also, for those of us with the 3.76 gearing, Mo will be able to program it for useage with them. I've never done it ( nor has Dex, I recall ) but some Members with the steeper gears have hit the rev limiter because the tranny's programmed for the 3.23 gears. Of course, I almost NEVER allow the tranny to shift for itself because I like to be in the proper gear when cruising around town - in case one of those sneaky Porsches or Bimmers slip up on me!!
For those that don't want to wait ( & also don't have the Supra gears ), I think that SRT can modify your existing valve body to firm up the shifting right now. Not sure if that will make the ECT react faster, though.

Damn Mean Gene, I wanna do a 13.79 with 200lbs of stereo. That is awesome, the total opposite of my rookie 1 track time going 14.9 with the A/C on.
