Hi there guys I recently purchased one of my dream cars.... a sliver 2002 is300 with the N/A 2jz and 5 speed manual. Just one issue though..... i've always been looked down upon for having a "less powerful car" due to a group of douches that happen to use to be my friends.... they have built wrx's and a gt35r turbo cobalt.... only difference between me and them though is that their parents bought all of their cars and the stuff done to them.... while i worked for my lexus but now its time to show them that work and brains will win I want to eventually build my new baby into a 500+ rwhp beast that cana even take on the gt35r cobalt.... it will be a somewhat slow build due to me working for all of my parts and college..... (wich it so happens that all of these kids are going to the same college as me next year) > but anyway, what would be the first few building blocks to reach this 500+ rwhp goal??? (I'm sure it might be on the forumns someplace but I'm far too busy to go look sadly but any advise will be greatly appreciated

Well, you will have to go turbo, for sure, but that is ok... The modification list is more than you might believe, but not impossible:

turbo kit
built motor
different transmission (R154, V160, etc)
standalone computer

the good news is that there are plenty of parts available out there on the cheap and if you shop wisely, you can get it done easily...

If you do the work yourself (minus machine shop), you can build the motor for $1200 and it'll be good to 600-700+ whp. Turbo kit - figure $2000-$2500, which includes fuel pump and injectors and a decent sized turbo (no need for gt35r, there are other cheaper options that are just as good on our larger displacement motors) Don't forget engine management - I would do AEM EMS V1 for $600ish, or the V2 for $1200ish...

Transmission and clutch will be the pricey parts here... Conventional wisdom says grab a V160 out of a Supra turbo, but thats a $4500 swap by itself... The R154 is a pretty tough transmission and will handle that power...

Right now, I have everything but a transmission... I have the auto transmission though, so it's a little tougher than your manual...

yes I was planning on going with a 6 speed swap from a supra turbo. along with building the motor I was debating.... since I'm going for big big RWHP is there any main downfalls to building up an NA-T?? than dropping in a GTE and building that??

aloso because it sounds like gte stock internals can take a lot of punishment, but I'm unsure what the NA could take..... I'm assuming lower comp pistons.... but keep in mind guys that this a semi budget build

no downfalls, only the upside to building the factory motor instead of swapping...

less wiring hassle and it is essentially the same block and crank... no oil squirters, but lots of guys delete those anyways...

with the V160 swap, I'd budget 10k for this...
