a jolt when u change from one gear to another. Actually to be exact, when u stop from drive and put the car in reverse. Is there a small jolt, or a time delay before it gets into gear??
My friend whos a mechanic once explained that when a car gives off a delay(or jolt), its mainly to keep people from changing gears rapidly. It suppose to ease the transmission. any truth to that?
Yea it happens to me in the morings when the car is cold. Also the car raises when I shift it and then almost like goes back in place when the gear is locked in.

That's a different issue. The car stays in 2nd longer when cold to make the car warm up quicker and reduce emissions. The 2nd/3rd shift when the car is cold is more abrupt than usual. If you want to avoid it, let your car warm up more before driving off.
