Default Should I delete all the resonators on my IS?

Okay, so today I got myself a great deal on an HKS Hi-Power exhaust. Local member here sold it to me used for $50 plus my stock exhaust. I also bought an Invidia Midpipe from him months ago. But even with the Invidia Midpipe, short ram intake, and HKS exhaust, I still think my IS350 is too quiet. I like the sound and it's not bad. However, before going for headers, does anyone think deleting the resonator on the Invidia Midpipe would make it any louder? Basically, I'd have no resonators on the car anymore.

First of all, wow thats a hell of a deal...$50 plus your stock exhaust. Good pick up! lol.

Second, How loud are you wanting this? I think the HKS alone is loud, with the Invidia Midpipe and a SRI i'd imagine its pretty loud lol. From what i understand, deleting the resonator will make it louder, but also adds a noticeable amount of drone inside the car.

Yup, sure was! Loudness, hard to say but I've heard some pretty loud G35's and 350Z's in my area. Probably something just a bit quieter than muscle cars but not the same sound as them. I wanted my car loud ever since I was driving behind a modded G35 coupe by my house. When he accelerated from a light, his exhaust was so loud, my gas pedal was vibrating when I was stepping on it. He probably had headers and straight pipes but who knows. I want to cut off the resonator but not sure if it'll even make a difference. I agree with you about cabin drone, it's twice as loud now with the windows up compared to stock during acceleration.

i think the loudness depends on personal taste. if you like it louder then you should take the resonators off too just be careful with cops lol

I have the same set-up as you and was actually thinking about doing the same thing. If I were to do it, I'd just buy a new mid pipe and use my old one to experiment with.

The drone will be pretty bad, although I'm sure it's not very quiet in your cabin with the current setup.

If its not loud enough, you should do it. If anything you can just put them back on. Windex was running no cats i believe and no resonator with a single exit exhaust.

Hmm, I wouldn't dare to get rid of the cats lol. Tough choice, I don't want to butcher the Invidia pipe but I don't want the rusty stock one back on without the resonators.

I remember reading a post on another thread saying that the stock midpipe without resonators isnt that loud. Just a little deeper tone. Maybe similar to a tanabe exhaust?

I might do that with my M2. As long as it doesn't have terrible drone.

It's going to have drone when you delete the resonators. When I had the Invidia Midpipe with the stock exhaust, I could easily tell the cabin noise doubled or even tripled when accelerating around the 2000-3000 RPM range. Strange thing is that outside noise, the car wasn't that much louder though. I thought it'll get worse when I added the HKS exhaust, but cabin noise just went up the slightest bit.
