That's an idea. Just flip it to the otherside and weld back on.
Yeah not sure what that's about ($3K). Youtube videos show a twin loop on other cars and it has the same lower tone, so I'm thinking at 120 for the mufflers shipped and another maybe 100 to weld/install. Might have a "ballin' on a budget" exhaust that sounds deeper than some of the usual 2IS exhaust suspects.
Which videos are you talking about? I'm considering running this setup with an invidia mid-pipe though I hear a true Dual with an X-pipe sounds better and the Suruga itself has one of those and I'd like to mimic that as closely as possible.
Anyone know of a good X mid-pipe thats comparable to an invidia in price I might be ab le to use? Furthermore anyone know A good, trustworthy shop near Tacoma Wa, where I can have those twin loops cut and re-welded?
Both of the sellers I contacted only had left sides, so I would have to cut and weld to make a mirrored pair (not a big deal). I am now stuck on the physics of the twin loop muffler. Has anyone had personal experience with one, or better understand the actual physics behind how it lowers the octave. I understand that a longer pipe means the frequency travels farther and stretches out, but how does that relate to length. Is there a formula? Is there an optimal length I should shoot for to get the deepest sounds without destructive interference? Any help would be appreciated.
You're best bet is to just mimic the setup that is shown within their videos and the couples of pics floating around the net.
To this day, I still want this guys EXACT setup...which include Suruga Speed twin-loop mufflers. Translation is "LEXUS "IS350" Intake: Exhaust Suruga Speed: EX prototype maker Mani certain (type unequal length), straight pipes, PFS is a combination of Suruga speed loop muffler sound." :
I Wonder if the car in the above video has some kind of aftermarket header setup as well as the loop mufflers. The English translation mentions unequal length and Mani (manifold?). It could explain why it sounds like no other exhaust setup for this car and why it sounds different to the other Suruga videos.
