Question e-shift?

hi i juss got a 2002 gs300 with the e-shift but not sure how to use it. I read in the manual but not sure still maybe i missed something. When i put it to m for the e-shift it starts of at 5. Does that mean 5th gear? when i start driving shouldn't start at 1 but in this case according to the car 2? So what gear should i start at and at wut rpm should i transition to the next gear? When i turn do i start the whole setup again? thankz in advance for your help

The e-shift 'number' isn't the gear the car is in, it's the MAXIMUM gear the tranny will go up to. So M-5 is 1-5, M-3 is 1-3, etc.

E-shift does not let you shift to 1st, but I have not found this an issue at all as my car stays in first when I floor it until high rpm then it shifts to 2.

The car also won't let you e-shift to M-2 before the engine has warmed up.

Hope that helps.

I think e-shift is a piece of crap.

Basically the trannny acts like a automatic up until the gear specified. So when it is manual-5, it is the same thing as auto and it stays in whatever gear you were driving in when you switch it.

You have to downshift with the e-shift button to engage it.

Like I said...piece of crap.
