Default rebuilt twin turbos or install new single turbo?

hi there

i need some advise on some turbo matters...currently i own a toyota aristo jzs161 that comes with a 2jzgte vvti engine...recently the turbos are leaking...so i am now contemplating to rebuilt the stock turbos or to purchase a single turbo GT3037 AR60 (as recommended by the shop).

current mods
hks fmic, bov, evc5, fcon vpro 3.3, oil cooler and transmission cooler, removal of cat with 3 inch exhaust with tanabe g-fordan exhaust and gruppe m air filter...running 1 bar boost

ideally i would like to maintain on engine 450-500 hp with emphasis on drivability(no or very minimal lag) and reliability (4 speed auto box)

may i know what single turbo would you recommend and what are add ons that i may need such as exhaust manifold, wastegate, walbro fuel pump, fuel regulator, fuel rail, fuel injectors ?? anymore that i may missed out?

finally...how much would it cost me and recommended shops?? thanks for your time..

dennis

Single. The whole stock twin setup is a nightmare to work on or service. Go single and don't look back. The GT3037 is too small for the 2JZ-GTE. It is suitable for a 2.0L 4cyl engine, but not a 3.0L 6cyl. You will have a hard time hitting 450-500rwhp on that turbo. Turbochargers have advanced over the years. Many single turbos now can spool faster and easily make more power than the stock twins.

I would suggest one of the new Garrett GTX3582R utilizing the new Billet wheels with a .63AR exhaust housing if you want very fast boost response. Personally I would go with the .82AR exhaust housing for more top end power. it will probably only lag an additional 300-400rpm with the .82AR. This turbo will take you to 450rwhp+ all day long. Also, 500rwhp+ if you use the .82AR

Glad to see you back in the forums. How's the Lambo project coming along?

I've driven a supra with a relatively cheap setup that makes crazy tq. and power down low. He used a treadstone cast manifold fitted with the sound performance quick spool valve using a Precision 6265 turbo making mid 400s all day long on low low boost but at the same time having the potential of seeing low 700s on high boost and E85.
