Transmission fluid change?

It is absolutely not bad for the transmission.
Speedaddic, most (95%) transmission filters in any new car and japanese cars from the past 20 years don't need changing. There is usually nothing in the filter, no dirt, no bits, etc. Notice how there isn't a service interval on that transmission filter? You can't compare your "built" 30 year old design domestic transmission to any of the applications I'm talking about! Even on that application I would do a flush without hesitation, is your transmission fluid black and chunky on your dipstick? Are you doing AWD burnouts till the shifting gets soft? A transmission flush is the least of your concerns.
I've taken apart 30 yr old auto trans filters and they were clean as new. Even with all that, I'd still change the filter once per 100k miles. We usually do it as part of a flush. Suck the old fluid out, drop the pan and change the filter and gasket, then complete the flush process. This is the ideal service method.
