I wouldnt recommend buying used, same thing is going to happen again eventually. If anything, buy aftermarket headers and call it a day.

It is Illegal to sale used catalytic converters.

I have a 03 GS300 and I had to replace mine last Sept. The problems is that the cat for these cars cost $1000-$1200. Every where I looked and called, I got the same result. So, I just bit the bullet. But, it is cheaper at toyota opposed to Lexus. And, by the way, make sure you know which one it is. GS's have 2.

Well my P0430 CEL kept coming on. I've run 4 bottles of injector cleaner back to back (chevron Techron concentrate - not fuel injector cleaner) and this morning the light went off by itself. **** Crossing Fingers **** I'll run it through the epa city cycle and post again if it goes out - maybe i've cleaned it - maybe not but it's worth a try.

My passenger cat is bad, so I sourced a couple of people that will sell me a used stock cat for my 98sc400. Was gonna get 2 for $200 shipped, but then Paul @ PPE talked me into buying the Magnaflow universal high flow cats that they offer. They have a 5yr warranty paper that comes with them. What ever shop installs them, fills out the paperwork & eather YOU or THEM sends it back to Magnaflow. Magnaflow's web site sells them for like $235-250 but you cant buy them on Ebay for $78.90, at least thats what I paid. But your exhaust guy will have to cut the flanges off you old cats & weld them to the new ones. Or you can get Paul @ PPE to sell you new c&c cut flanges.

In ethics, what monitors the cats and triggers the code? The pre and post oxygen sensor compares values and sends the signal to the pcm so it gets updated information. So, if the oxygen sensor is defective, it will send false signals to the pcm in a result bad cat. I suggest you check out if the oxygen sensors are properly working first before changing cats. just saying.
