Default Stock ECU swap worth it? '04 --> '98

I've been searching for about a half hour...still not sure if I know the answer...

An acquaintenance has an '04 GS300 -- does he have the upgraded steering ECU?

I have a '98 GS400 -- is it worth my time to give him some cash to swap ECUs? Will they work in each others' cars?

depends on how much and I wouldn't do it personally with someone you know just in case they complain later.

and before any noob asks what a steering ECU is, go search.

no, they will not. if it was 300 to 300, or 400 to 400, or 430 to 430, yes. But, going from a 300 to a 400 is a no go.

If you are talking about the steering ECU's then yes they will swap just fine. All 300, 400, & 430 steering ecu's can be interchanged. Get one from later than Jan 02 (300 & 430 are the same) or even a SportDesign.

No problem. I did a lot of research too & went with a SD ecu myself. I didn't really notice a dfference all the time. The highway is where I mainly noticed a difference. Nothing major, but better.

oh...by your thread title it sounded like you wanted to swap actual engine control units...not steering control computer....if that's the case then certainly yes steering controllers can be swapped...engine controllers however cannot.
