Default Megan Racing Headers for IS250/IS350

I'm actually a bit supprised nobody here has installed this yet... very little feedback on these headers. I just got off the phone with Megan Racing and they confirmed its the same unit for both the IS250 & IS350. They also said they also abserved 17-19 whp gains from it.

Thoughts?

Yes, common belief around here is its for the 250 only. Megan Racing said the headers fit the 350 as well, they use the same headers... per Megan Racing.

It cost $400 bucks. I'm sure more then a few of us would spend $400 for almost 20HP gains...

I confess that I know virtually nothing about header design. However, it seems strange that Megan would market the same header for two completely different engines. Sure it may fit the 350, but I would be cautious if it wasn't purpose-built for the 350.

Can someone with knowledge respond if this makes sense or not?

Just because something physically fits doesn't make it a good idea.

It'd be impossible to design a set of headers that was optimal in sizing and shape for both a 3.5L and a 2.5L engine at the same time.

I'm sure we would.

The fact that virtually nobody has in the couple years they've been for sale might tell you something.

a friend of mine got the megan header for his accord, got it installed at a shop, and they said it fit but not perfect fit and it leak a little air, so he returned.

that the reason why i chose tanabe coilover over megan coilover.

so what does the poor fitment of megan racing headers have to do with megan racing coilovers?

well i had skunk2 exhaust and it doesnt fit perfect, then i was like what does that have to do with their cam gear, so i ordered skunk2 cam gear, and that doesnt fit good either.

The person I spoke w/ at Megan said with absolute confidence that these fit on both the IS250 and IS350... he noted they don't work on the IS250awd though...

I think what throws everyone off is on their website, Megan says "IS250 Header" and not "IS250/IS350 Headers" like they should say. Probably just a webmaster mistake since the Megan rep assured me its for both.

Weird. I wish there was more info/feedback on these round here.

Yes, like I said yesterday, they will physically fit on both engines. There are threads going back to 2006 mentioning this fact.

it's also impossible that the pipes are ideally sized for both engines. given there's a significant difference in displacement.

I'm sure somewhere out there is a 4" diameter exhaust system for a 1.5L NA honda motor that physically fits on the car. It doesn't mean it'll improve performance though.

How do we know there's no performance improvment? Show me.

so are you trying to imply that if a company's product is of inferior quality, ALL of their products are of inferior quality?

somewhere in that argument is a gap in logic, but to each his own.

You Answer is located here.

1. The stock manifold is not that restrictive.
2. If mazzuri (the guy who had incredible results on the 1gen's) cannot get any extra power out of the 350, what makes you think megan can? mazzuri knows the is's inside and out
3. good luck getting past the cel
4. good luck getting past the cel
5. why do you think it's been 4yrs with this engine and there are no true is350 headers?
5. good luck getting past the cel.

It's about as much of a lost cause as trying to FI the 350. If you want a car to tune, go buy a subi/bmw/mazda/corevette/etc..
