there's no drone on the tanabe.

My last car was over 500 hp NA, full headers and dual dynomax exhaust... THAT had drone. You'd have to raise your voice to have a conversation cruising at 2500 rpms. The exhaust could set off car alarms. At idle.

The tanabe on the IS350 on the other hand is virtually indistinguishable from the stock exhaust noise unless you romp on the gas.

what is everyone talkin about when they say lexus HKS exhaust? I know the HKS exhausts for our cars have a 5" tip. Is it the F-sport exhaust? I don't follow this "Lexus HKS exhaust"

it will be faster for you to just buy G35 or 350Z if you want that sound
different engine that you are comparing here and you will never get that G35 sound out of IS250/350

if you want loud,,then go with HKS Hi-power
if you want little louder than Stock,,Tanabe
if you want something in between HKS Hi-power and Tanabe
then get Greddy

F-sport, Lexus HKS, JoeZ all sound great and aggressive,,somewhere between Tanabe and HKS Hi-Power

and if you are worried about droning,,get the Megan Midpipe,,it will reduce the droning and also make your exhaust louder and deeper for sure

why are 2is owners trying to replicate the g35/g37/Z exhaust tone? it's distinctive only to the g35/g37/Z, and imo it's just not possible to achieve that type of harmonics w/ the 2is. so can we all admit it's not going to happen and quit trying to make it happen? /OT

anyways... the HKS hi-power (not to be confused with the lexus HKS system) is very likely the loudest axle-back application for the 2is. matched w/ an open-air filter element intake (a la fujita), and you will have one loud 2is. i have cabin drone, but i've learned to live with it.

anything louder will probably have a modified mid-pipe.

This is Lexus HKS or sometime called Dual Sport Exhaust. It is not HKS Exhaust or HKS Hi-Power exhaust. Lexus HKS was replaced by F-sport when Lexus started making F Sport accessories. At the time it was available only the dealer carried it. F-sport exhaust is just louder version of Lexus HKS.

Agreed....

Just an FYI, the F-Sport version is also manufactured by HKS..

Lexus F-Sport Exhaust = part# PTR08-53090
Lexus HKS Dual Sport Exhaust = part# PT916-53060

And louder does not mean more drone inside, correct?

Which part of MD are you in? Depending on your location, you can check out the street version of JoeZs exhaust on my car, as well as his intake tube.

It doesn't sound like the G35, but nor does it need to. It sounds like a 2GR-FSE with its hair down, just as it should.

Welcome to CL, btw.

Mazzuri's are great if you have a 250...

If you want rare, get a Wald exhaust or... Even more rare: the Suruga speed. Handmade from Japan - it'll set you back around 2 grand!

aside from bragging rights, why spend so much on an axle-back system that'll only give you 6 hp, tops?

megan midpipe + hks hi-power = loud. if you're into that, enjoy.
