Question for you Engine Gurus'!
Since I found out that my fuel injectors aren't flooded, I've come to another problem now.
Sounds as if my starter or solenoid for the starter is starting to go. What can I check, or do to see if these are failing? Or have already failed?
When I try to start my car at any given time, even if it has been turned off for more than 1-10 seconds, it will not start. I can hear a "click click" sound when I turn the key to the ignition portion. I've checked everything related towards the battery and no success in finding anything. But after a couple of tries, it finally starts.
Brought it to one of my well known mechanics for a diagnostic, and he states that either my solenoid or starter has or could be failing. He will not touch my car since he's not licensed as of now, but can tell me how to fix.
Could someone please help out? K thanks.

Upcoming oil change: 10-13-2008
Oil being used: Mobile 1 5w-30
Oil filter: Non magnetic mobile1 filter

Most of us GS400 guys have the infamous starter problem. I had the same problem after owning my car for just a week! If you're still on the original starter, I wouldn't be surprised if that's your problem. I had the same symptoms also..

remove the starter and take it to autozone and have them run a test on it. It could be the solenoid, switch, contacts, or any combination of these things which would require a whole new starter.

Best source and price for a genuine Lexus/Toyota starter? Carson?
Would it be the same as a Toyota 2uzfe 4.7 liter V8 found in the trucks?
Seen many parts that are identical on our engines go for MUCH less as a Toyota V8 truck engine part including tensioners and idle wheels.

If you are going to go through the pain of removing the stater, trust me when I say you will replace it, whether it needs one or not. This is by far one of the most time consuming starter jobs there is.
