I'll be out there soon, I was going to hit the dyno with Darin today but we were rained out. No rush here.

I think there should be TWO columns: GS300 and another for GS4xx

This would give more members recognition especially the V8 members as the Turbo 6 members (doing a great job btw) have it relatively easy compared to the scarce options for going fast on the V8.

As far as what the V8 is capable of:

My 1999 LS400 (1998-2000 MY) has the same engine transmission and differential as the GS400. The LS weighs a couple hundred pounds more. My best stock times are as good as I have ever seen for a stock GS400. I did the 14.2 on a 2.19 second 60ft (on stock 225/60-16 radials) with the stock non-LSD 3.27 differential. With LSD and drag radials I am completely confident that I would have gone 2.0 or maybe even 1.9 on that 60 foot time which would have had my LS going high 13s.

With less weight the GS4xx SHOULD be slightly quicker under the same conditions. With headers, 2800rpm torque converter, LSD, drag radials and a tune I am confident that a properly driven GS4xx COULD go 13.5 at 100-102mph.

If someone decided to get into the engine a bit as most 2JZ owners eventually do... Properly ported heads and intake manifold, mild cams, bumped compression, could get 300+rwhp NA which could get very low 13s at 105+mph.

Properly boosted with a JeffTsai built A650 transmission 550rwhp may be attainable on the V8 platform. Given the stronger torque curve in the lower RPMs such a configuration should give many higher powered 2JZ cars a TOUGH run...

You took the words right out of my mouth. We should have one for the 4xx guys NA or FI, I agree! According to your calculations if I was to bring down my 60ft from 2.2 to 2.0 or even 1.9 how many .second would that shave of my 1/4 mile time? I ran a 14.1@99mph with a 2.2 60ft no lsd nor tq converter, no sicks either, on stretched tires. But I'm looking to get those upgrades if it would help me break into the mid or even low 13's. Thanks

Nice to see a GS finally post a better time than my LS

Hopefully Adam will add the 4xx column since very few of the V8 cars are FI.

As far as time reduction in your 60 foot time calculating to a change in the 1/4 mile...
All things being equal...
The minimum ET (elapsed time) reduction would be a 1 to 1 ratio... IOW... drop 0.20 in the 60ft (2.0 vs 2.2) and your ET drops at the MINIMUM from 14.1 to a 13.9
Now, due to the nature of drag racing the drop is often MORE than just the raw change and can be 1.5x or even 2x the 60ft change... IOW, a 0.2 drop in 60ft could be worth 0.3 or even 0.4 in the final ET. Notice I said "could" and "all things being equal" as that is not often the case.
Still, with a bit more stick to your tires, either DR or LSD or both and you should easily see 13s in the same ambient conditions as you ran your 14.1.
The conditions were outstanding for my 14.2 run with temps in the 50s, a high barometer and low humidity.

ok thanks! What did you trap in at with the 14.2 run? "that's quick btw for a ls400" i looked at my other runs and with a 2.4 60ft i did 14.5 so i'm hoping with better traction next time around i'll be able to finally break into the 13's. I'm also looking to change up my catback, getting lsd and a tq conveter. Now let's get a top ten GS4xx time up

Default Reppin GSxxx

I just got drag radials for my GS, so I'll be doing some test & tune at Irwindale Raceway during THE PURSUIT3 meet coming up this Oct.

Event Here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/cl-...0-16-11-a.html

It's a 1/8 mile track, so I'll be focusing on my 60ft.

I'll try to run on a 1/4 mile track some time in the future.

My car Dyno'd at about 400 rwHP.

I've got a Vortec Supercharger @ 8 lbs, S &S Headers, 2 1/4 catback with x -pipe, Patriot Varaflow mufflers, Hi Stall TC, Valve Body mod, Carbonetics LSD, 285/40-18 Nitto Drag Radials

What does everybody think the car is capable of in the quarter ?

20" rims up front & 18x9 rims on Drag Radials out back.

BTW perhaps we should start a new thread?

.

Guess this was before it's time/has gone forgotten but it's the quickest time out of the ones listed by a good margin.

Mo from SRT back in 2007

12.030 1998 GS400 Custom Supercharger

((No, SRT doesn't sell this supercharger (or any for that matter) for the 400/430's.)

Kind of OT but, any of you guys who are running/going to run slicks, what wheels are you going to use? I'm going to throw slicks on my stock 16's and I have no idea what size to buy.
