Default Boosting on a high milage GS300 ?

My 98 GS300 has 130k on the clock, and I just ran into my buddy who can get me turbo kits for a killer deal. My question is, does my block have enough life left to withstand a turbo running at low boost, we'll just say 6-7lb's ?

My block is totally stock, stock headgasket, etc.. Not planning to go overkill on my setup. I just want a lil extra power.

If I were in your shoes and I have been, I would go get a compression test first to make sure your motor is strong enough. You will know from the results of the test where you are and what you need to do to get there.

You should be fine to run 5-6psi on a stock motor, I wouldn't go any higher than that though, not with a stock head gasket. If you want go higher than 6psi on a stock motor you need to lower the compression via a thicker head gasket. Also, I'm assuming you plan on doing this anyways but you will need an intercooler, some of the older/budget setups run without an intercooler but it really limits your boost to just a few pounds.

might as well take the head off, put in a 1.3mm HG and do some head work while you're at it. i would lower the compression before doing any kind of FI with the ge
