Gs430 Underdrive Pulleys!!!
So I got this buddy of mine who has a 2005 Nissan Xterra with a bunch of mods done to it (CAI, throttle body spacer, jba headers, and catback exhaust by Gibson) and i've seen that big *** SUV give a couple of v8 mustangs a run for their money... So anyways he informed me that he found this shop on my side of town that has the equipment needed to make custom pulleys. And the best part is the guy said he'll make the pulleys and install them for free!!! Since no one makes pulleys for the xterra the guy said he can make plenty of money selling the pulley sets. The only thing my buddy has to do is leave his car there for a day or two for the guy to take all measurements. Once the guy gets all the measurements it'll take a month or two and he'll have a lightened billet aluminum version of the stock pulleys. So once I heard about this I told him to ask about my GS and the guy from the shop said to bring my car on by and he'll do it... So you can bet your *** as soon as I get my car back from the bodyshop (getting a new paintjob, with rmm 3 piece spoiler and tinted lights all the way around) the first thing im gonna do is take my car by there and see what he can do!!!!
let me know how it turns out! Especially if you can get some dyno numbers of before and after! I like the proven results. Just bought a cai the other day dynoed with stock and then intake and hp and tq went down!!! so i took it off and sent it back! I don't want to pay for something that doesn't work!
Lightweight is good. Underdrive is no good. When you have an underdrive pulley, all your accessories will turn at a lower rate, regardless if the pulley is lightweight or not.
Our cars come with harmonic dampener on it. If you're going to use a 1-piece metal for the pulley, you might run into problems later on. The balancer is on there for a reason. Worse comes worse, your crank can wobble in the long run and severely damage the block.
On my old car, I changed out the OEM pulley to an light-weight underdrive pulley. I could do that because the OEM pulley was basically the same 1-piece metal design. There was no harmonic balancer on it.
Definitely not worth the risk for 9whp or so.
