Default Whole exhaust system change out

hey there guys, i think im gonna start to change out my whole exhaust system. i alraedy have an apexi ws2 exhaust, and thinking about changing the Y-pipe, header, and maybe a test pipe, but i wondering who makes good headers and y-pipe's. i know that megan racing makes a y-pipe but is there another brand?

maybe if i change this i might resolve the bogging from the exhaust when i step on gas.

i have the jpi/toyomoto headers and y-pipe. combined with my custom 3" piping to the 2 canisters without resonators it is pretty loud at WOT otherwise it is just a rumble bee effect when sitting still at lights. it can get annoying at time without those cats and resonators. also be ready to install o2 simulators so that you won't have a CEL.

I changed out my exhaust to JPI headers and Y-pipe. Love it. Power increase was noticable, but I haven't dyno'd the car to see what it truely is. Noise increased under accelleration, but goes quiet at cruise. Tanabe exhaust sounds perfect with this setup. Keep in mind, I had to go to a muffler shop and extend the Y-pipe by about 3.5 inches. These setups seem to be made for the IS300.

ws2 is very quiet, many friends said it sounds like a 350z or the fx but slightly a bit louder. i want to make a video sound clip on my exhaust but havent found the right time to do so

@nbart: so the downpipe is short and has to be lengthen?

Yep. Had to take it to a muffler shop and cut the Y-pipe at the resonator. Make sure they only weld one side of the extention on and leave a little extra for you to lengthen or shorten as needed. I used an exhaust clamp to hold it together until I could get back to him and have it welded up tight. Only cost $20 for him to do the work. Had to pay him another $20 b/c the headers changed the angle of the Y-pipe so that it was touching the bottom of my car. Made a loud vibration sound at idle. Love the sound. Sure makes people think twice about testing what I have under the hood. Everyone here knows its all bark without the bit, for now.

Not that I know of. They are producing these header kits for the IS300 not our car. That is why the y-pipe id too short. Sucks, but i would not trust anyone who says that it is for the GS300 without someone else confirming it for you. Look at the Header install link and check out the different models everyone is using. I used JPI for the price and he is trusted by everyone on this site for advise.

Does the Megan Y-pipe still have to be extended for the GS?

Default Nope, its a direct fit. It will only need to be extended->

if you are using an aftermarket header. obx, toyomoto or xerd.
