i read an article in super street a couple years ago where one of the editors was pulled over and given a ticket for having a street legal exhaust system on his g35 sedan. this took place in california. the owner of the g35 then went to radio shack and purchased a db meter. he recorded the noise level at the required rpm (can't remember the exact number- i think it might have been around 3k). the legal limit was somewhere around 100 db for CA and his car was under the limit. he took his evidence to court and won. ricky chu was the editor for any of you guys that read super street. here in alabama they don't pay any attention to exhausts or cars that are modded.

 

While you may win, you still have to pay court fees, which amount to ~$100 (in VA) if I'm not mistaken. And don't forget about the lost wages and aggravation of just going to court to fight the ticket.
