I don't think the HKS is that loud when the spare tire, cover, and carpet are in the trunk. I'm surprised how much difference that makes. I think it is about perfect. BTW, I was one of those that complained about it before.

You've obviously never had an HKS triple plate clutch in one of your cars. They get some things very right, and others very wrong. It's not a bad bet, but also not a safe bet either.

First it was . Then it was . Then it was SOLD and . Never again on my Supra. I got it from a guy who broke three carbon fibre driveshafts with the same clutch. It's a lightswitch and completely unsuitable for any street driving. I would not even road race with it because the driveline shock is so severe. I could go on and on about how much I hated it, but I was happy about one thing: I got what I paid for it when I sold it.

Not to beat a dead horse, but that isn't true either. The HKS exhaust for the S2000 wasn't any good either. It was heavy, and provided no power. It was just a sight and sound mod.

i just put a jdm hi power system (FROM THE DUMP PIPE BACK) on my TT Mark II and i think it is a bit over the edge as far as the loudness. the WOT sound is good but the 2500-4000 RPM range drones. but i have a inline six. might be different on the IS. it did however give my a 1 pound increase in boost. and less spool up lag.

I haven't seen a dyno with the Tanabe, but I think they claim a 5 whp gain if I remember right... or is it 7. Someone did a dyno with the HKS where they gained over 11 whp.

But from what Gernby and lobux explained, that number might drop after a few more miles is put on the car. By how much, I have no idea... I wish more people would do dynos for these two exhausts, heh.

Had the HKS exhaust on my 03 GS300 and I would literally just get in the car turn of the radio and open the windows to hear the sound while driving around. I am enjoying the quiet ride of my new 07 IS250 only 3 days into it so far though. I know I will be missing that mean aggressive sound soon.

i regret having tanabe installed on mine.. i should have got HKS instead.. tanave is just a little too quiet for me.. -_-'

if u like a quiet ride go for tanabe, but if you want an aggressive sound, go for HKS *-*

The HKS isn't ricey 4-banger loud, is it?

I don't want something that will grab every cop's attention, and make old people taking an evening stroll wave their cane in anger at me...

... or even the kind of thing that just makes you roll your eyes when you're next to someone with a tacky exhaust at a traffic light (you know the kind I'm talking about).
