Well after about 5k with the LMS intake and the K&N filter it came with, i decided to switch to a synthetic one instead. I deff recommend it as a replacement filter. 3 Pros that i noticed
1) Idle was alot quieter then the K&N
2) Acceleration was smooth not jumpy
3) WOT is smoother, quicker, and quieter
I deffinately like the AEM Synthetic better, it makes my car sound stock until hard accleration, whereas u could tell i had something done to the car idling with the K&N. But if your one of the guys that like sound over power, then i guess just keep the K&N. Not sure how much power the filter actually gave me or if any at all but acceleration is quicker and quieter. I also noticed that the RPMs dropped alot slower when i revved it up and let it drop while parked.
I use an AEM filter with my K&N Typhoon. I read an article in Porshe dealer mag once that said the only reason to use a guaze/oil filter is a real race car that the engine's going to be rebuilt anyway! That always kind of stuck with me..
yeah, after thinkin about oil messing up my MAF n all i decided to switch to a synthetic filter instead. Plus i think it flows better anyhow compared to a oil cotton gauze filter. as for pics tOe, my digi cam broke. (damn lil kids) so whenever i can throw down $300 for a new Sony Cybershot i will post with pics. haha
i dont think adding a synthetic filter is worth dishing out $100+/- for a dyno. I think switching from oil cotton guaze was a deff + because of how much better it functions. but if u dont take my word for it then dont buy it.
